Types of Numerology

There are several types of numerology, each with its own unique approach and focus. Some of the most common types include:

  • Life Path Numerology: This is the most popular form of numerology, and involves calculating a person’s “life path number” based on their birth date. The life path number is said to reveal a person’s strengths, weaknesses, and potential for success in life.
  • Name Numerology: This type of numerology focuses on the numerical value of a person’s name and the vibrations of the letters. It is believed that the name number can reveal a person’s personality and characteristics.
  • Pythagorean Numerology: This type of numerology is based on the work of the ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras. It involves the use of a person’s full name and birth date to calculate a variety of numbers that are said to reveal different aspects of a person’s character and destiny.
  • Kabbalistic Numerology: This type of numerology is based on the teachings of Jewish mysticism, also known as Kabbalah. It involves the use of a person’s name and birth date to uncover hidden meanings and spiritual insights.
  • Chaldean Numerology: This type of Numerology is based on ancient Babylonian and Chaldean wisdom. It has a different method of calculating the numbers and gives a different interpretation of the numbers than the Pythagorean numerology.
  • Indian Numerology, also known as Tantric or Vedic Numerology: Is a type of Numerology based on Tantra and the teachings of the Vedas. It is a spiritual approach that combines the principles of numerology with the spiritual teachings and practices of Tantra.

What each of these traditions hold in common is the application of a number and the association. Which is indicative of a unique signature or energetic resonance. That is, numbers in themselves indicate an energetic signature- a composition of qualities that translate into our conscious mind and material reality. (Download Numeric Yantras Keys)

Number Meanings in Different Systems

To better explain this qualitative/energetic signature, let’s look at numerology across systems to understand the underlying essence. The number 8 in Chinese Numerology means ‘ba’ or wealth-prosperity, in Tantric numerology it is a karmic number connected to purity, healing, and the soul. In Judaic tradition, 8 is associated with new beginnings and blessings. In the Arabic lineage it is a balance of power, and carries an authoritative quality. As each of these traditions have a different correlation to the number 8, they have similar signatures, or qualities. Now consider Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth and abundance with 8 arms. Each arm holding a different symbol, each symbolizing 8 aspects of prosperity or blessings.

They are as follows: spiritual wealth, material wealth, health, fertility/beauty, progeny, power, knowledge, and fortune (luck). These 8 attributes equal material and spiritual wellbeing, and each lineage shows an aspect of prosperity. Be it Arabic with power, Judaic in progeny and fortune, or in Chinese material wealth and in Tantric spiritual wealth. The number 8 carries a balance of prosperity between the aspects of contentment balancing the fortunes of the material world through the blessings of the spiritual. Though numbers may translate into different definitions, its underlying meaning and signatures are synonymous- like numeric semantics

How to use the different systems of Numerology

The type of numerology to use is based on the intended application. The systems are ancient traditions that are rooted in theology and astronomical, symbolic, and astrological correlations. The name and birth date are not considered systems, but more of methods of deduction to understand one’s personal resonance within the self and environment in relation to the self. Though these methods are connected to systems, such as the alphanumeric application of Pythagorean Numerology to find the Number of a Name.

Remember the meaning is only part of numerology, the real art lies in the application. Based on the system and its intended direction, it can be a tool to unlock a deeper understanding of the self and the mysteries that lie within each Numerology System. Each of these systems are connected to philosophical, scientific, and theological texts. The numerological systems correspond to deciphering ancient texts, and connecting the traditions and arts including, but not limited to: the Zodiac, Medicine, Spirituality, and Metaphysics. Numerology is a way to apply higher wisdom to personal exploration and to universal understanding.
